In my life I basically don't even use social Media cause besides my phone getting merked in the washing machine I'm socially inactive, But when I was, I was very attached to it so I know the pain of getting disconnected from the internet just like these teens! But look at me, my phone has been "banned" practically until I get a new one and that wont be for a little bit of time. So if i'm doing it i'm sure schools across the board can do the same. They might be "learning tools" but that's why we have chrome books and other wonderful technology at our fingertips, plus are learning tools texting your friends and looking though Instagram? No I didn't think so. I do think we should make a partial ban on electronics at school but not fully. See if we ban the electronics during class but allow them to use them at lunch or ressecss the students would pay attention in class and get there learning done without distraction but they would still have freedom at the times of lunch so they don't feel the "ban" hardly enough as if they would if it was a ban that went on all throughout school. Why I think the schools should not have an all throughout school ban is beacause if they have this ban in high school the students are all teens and not little kids that would go along with everything they would be kids that are edgy and not that easy going and because teenagers are very attached to there phones the ban would probley result in a "strike" with the teens not showing up at schools even though it improves there learning!
But on the other hand if the school does not provide its own technology such as chromebooks I do think no ban should be in place for the reason of providing the teens with items that improve there learning rather than taking it away. See the students that use there electronics effectively should be allowed to use them in class for note taking and calculator use and not browsing through Instagram and texting friends, if all students use there electronics appropriately I do not think there should be a ban in place but if the students refuse to use them for learning I do think there should be a ban in place.
hi Owen, Im Cameron. I loved how you described a lot of ways that you said the cellphone ban was good and why it was bad. One thing that i did not see in your blog is that their was no link to another website. also in our class we have been working on using a variety of punctuation and when i was reading your blog i didn't see and questions or exclamations. Overall i liked reading your blog keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteOwen you are an excellent writer and you perfectly included very important info about why we should not ban phones from school. You said that if we band phones children would not listen as much during class.but on the other hand if they let you use them they would take advantage of and go on social media.the perfect decision is to let them go on during nutrition break and you are totaly right.you hade a very good blog but you failed to to add a link, you showed your communication cleary and was easy to follow.you just need to work on adding a link then you will have a very well blog.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the feedback, i will take your points into consideration.
